SalSeoul Sampler #1

Copenhagen-Dreams

It's getting darker, temperatures are falling in Korea - and the first compilation here on SalSeoul reflects that. All the songs are very special to me, however, and I hope you'll also warm up to them.

'Here, They Used To Build Ships' by Jóhann Jóhannsson is particularly beautiful. Although I'd been listening to many musicians from Iceland for a quite long time, he was under my radar until I recently found 'Copenhagen Dreams'. What can I say? It blew me away, I love all about it. It's the soundtrack to a movie by Max Kestner (that I wasn't able to watch by now - but it can't be bad). Cover art is great, too.

The first songs are pretty calm but you shouldn't be put off by it too easy. There will also be some Disco, House, Minimal, Cumbia, and – when you keep it up until the end – a highlife treasure by S.E. Rogers from Sierra Leone. You can find it on the amazing sampler 'Love Is Love' on Mississippi Records.

Hope you dig!
